一、学科专业简介 媒体与设计学院工业设计学科创建于1986年，现更名为设计系。1999年开始招收设计艺术学硕士研究生，是上海地区首批获得授予该硕士学位的学科之一。本学位以产品设计、视觉传达设计、环境艺术设计为轴线覆盖相关联的专业研究方向，研究以人为中心构成的各种社会物质需求和创造活动，从设计理论、设计方法、设计工程实践等各个侧面探讨人类物质性构成中的物质和精神性表现，以物质形式推动人类社会向前迈进。本学位现有正副教授和高工16名，设有计算机三维成型、木工加工、金属加工、石膏成型、喷绘、油泥成型、计算机辅助设计实验室和工业设计研究所，与国内外许多公司建立了合作开发项目，并与德国、美国、日本、香港等国家和地区的设计院校建立了广泛的学术交流，形成了以培养高层次产品设计、视觉传达设计、环境艺术设计人才的产、学、研基地。 This master program was first established in 1986, starting to enroll graduate students in 1999, one of the very first in China. It specializes in fusing major innovation, training high-end designers, building integrated design and research platform. The department has 24 Graduate tutors, includes 6 professors, 2 Doctor’s tutors, most of the teachers hold a doctor’s degree in design. Our department of Design and Art is a hub for innovation at SJTU. Students and faculty in engineering, art, design, humanities, sciences and education areas find their ways here to solve the fuzzy front end problems. 二、培养目标 为工矿企业和工程建设部门，特别是大中型企业培养应用型、复合型的高层次工程技术和工程管理人才。培养在产品设计、视觉传达设计、环境艺术设计、设计管理、设计教育等方面具有扎实的理论基础、宽广物专业知识、敏捷的创意思维能力、熟练的设计表现技能。善于钻研、把握本学科方向，能独立担负专业设计和管理，或设计教育的高能专门人才。 This master program was first established in 1986, starting to enroll graduate students in 1999, one of the very first in China. Students and faculty in engineering, art, design, humanities, sciences and education areas find their ways here to solve the fuzzy front end problems. 三、研究方向 1.产品开发设 2.平面设计与策划 3.多媒体设计与传播 4.环境艺术设计 5.设计管理研究 6.设计教育研究 1 Product Design 2 Graphic Design 3 New Media Design and Communication 4 Environmental Design 5 Design Management 6 Design Education 四、学习年限 工程硕士生的学制一般为两年半，其中累计在校学习时间不得少于半年。超过三年半者必须办理延期手续，但最长学习年限不超过五年。 This is a master’s program with the normal length of 2.5 years.The cumulative school time must not be less than half a year.More than three and a half years,student must go through the extension formalities.The maximum study period is no more than five years. 五、学分与课程学习基本要求 攻读学位期间在上海交通大学学习的时间累计不得少于半年，总学分≥32； Students are required to take at least 32 credits in total 六、学位论文 学位论文须在导师知道下独立进行，并在答辩前一个月完成。设计课题部分要求概念清楚、理论正确、分析严谨、论证和论据鲜明有力、文句简练、图标清晰、层次分明。 The thesis should focus on the issues in the field of design, be in tune with the development of related disciplines, meet the standards of academic writing, and fully demonstrate the students’ creativeness and capacity in design theories and practices. Also, the thesis must be written independently by the students under the guidance of supervisors. 七、学术论文 工程硕士生在申请学位论文答辩之前，应以上海交通大学的名义和研究生本人为第一作者，在公开出版的学术期刊，或相关行业、单位公开发行的刊物上，发表（或录用）论文1篇（若本人为第二作者，则要2篇，且第一作者为本人导师）。否则，不予组织学位论文答辩。 Before the oral defense for graduation thesis,a paper relevant to students research is required to published in journal.Student should be the first author in the name of Shanghai Jiaotong University.(If student was second author, It needs two papers, and the first author should be supervisors.) 八、开题报告 在第三学期结束前完成开题报告，以局面形式就课题的研究范围、意义和价值、研究内容和研究方法，以及课题条件等加以设计立项。开题报告由导师和有关的教授组成的论证会上宣读和审核，最后报研究生院备案。 After the mid-term assessment, in the 3rd term, Master's degree thesis work should be started under the guidance of "The Shanghai Jiao Tong University Research Masters students work regulations". 1)According to the regulation of the school, graduate students should complete the Proposal work after the mid-term assessment in the 3rd semester. 2)The Proposal should be conducted under the guidance of the instructor, which concludes research, status, significance and value of the topic in the current research at home and abroad, and the main condition, the research basic mentality, frame structure, schedule and so on for individual study. Students must also put forward design draft, supporting theory and research methods. 3)The defense of Proposal will be organized by the department. 九、中期考核 工程硕士在第三学期开学后一个月内需进行一次全面考核，检查课程学习的学分和级点是否满足要求，决定是否可进入学位论文阶段。具体按照研究生院有关规定执行。 Normally, the master's mid-term assessment should be completed within the first month of the 3rd semester.
